Air Transportation

In addition to being within two hours or less from international and regional airports in Atlanta and Chattanooga, Murray County, Georgia is also accessible by air via Dalton Municipal Airport, 15 miles west of Chatsworth. This airport’s 5,495-foot asphalt runway, and precision instrument landing system can accommodate 95 percent of general aviation and corporate aircraft.


CSX, a Class I railroad, provides service to Murray County for the importation and exportation of goods, with intermodal service available at the Appalachian Regional Port.


The Appalachian Regional Port is designed to move national and international shipments efficiently and effectively to and from the Georgia Ports Authority’s Garden City Terminal in Savannah via rail. With easy transport to the Port of Savannah, manufacturers will find Chatsworth-Murray County, Georgia an ideal location for getting goods to market.
